Middleton School District Partners with Terry Reilly Health Services to Provide Parent Approved Mental Health Support for High School Students

The Middleton School District is excited to announce a new partnership with Terry Reilly Health Services to bring dedicated, parent approved, mental health support to Middleton High School students. This collaboration aims to address the growing need for accessible mental health care within the school community, ensuring that students have the resources they need to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Starting this fall, Middleton High School students will have access to on-site mental health counseling and support services provided by licensed professionals from Terry Reilly Health Services. This initiative is part of the district's ongoing commitment to prioritize student wellness and create a supportive environment for all.

Key Features of the Partnership:

  • On-Site Mental Health Services: A licensed therapist will be available on campus, offering individual counseling sessions, crisis intervention, and mental health education when approved by parents.
  • Confidential and Convenient Access: With parent approval, students can access support during school hours, minimizing barriers such as transportation or scheduling conflicts that often prevent young people from seeking help.
  • Comprehensive Support for Mental Health Challenges: The at-school clinical counselor is available to help teens navigate various mental health issues, including:
    • Anxiety
    • Depression
    • Mood and focus issues
    • Low self-esteem
    • Self-harm
    • Substance misuse
    • Safe relationships
    • Trauma
  • Expert Care: Services are provided by a master’s level counselor from Terry Reilly Health Services in partnership with the Middleton School District, ensuring professional, high-quality mental health support for students.

“We recognize the impact that mental health has on student success and well-being,” said Sharlea Watkins, Community School Director of Middleton School District. “Partnering with Terry Reily allows us to provide critical support directly to our students, helping them navigate challenges and build resilience.”

Additional Support with Care Solace:
In addition to the partnership with Terry Reilly Health Services, the district offers Care Solace, a comprehensive resource available to all students, families, staff, and their families. Care Solace provides personalized assistance in finding mental health services, including:

  • Locating providers that match specific needs
  • Navigating insurance and payment options
  • Accessing a network of licensed professionals

Care Solace is available through the district’s website under the mental health section. This service aims to streamline the process of finding the right mental health support, making it easier for individuals to connect with the resources they need.

One of the key figures in this initiative is Breanna Gross, a passionate and experienced mental health professional who will be serving the students at Middleton High School. Originally from Las Vegas, Breanna began her training at the University of Utah, studying health promotion and education. After spending nine years in Detroit, Michigan, where she raised her four children and felt a strong pull to become a social worker, Breanna completed her Master of Social Work at the University of Michigan, focusing on interpersonal practice.

During her time in community mental health, Breanna worked with adults experiencing co-occurring disorders, substance use disorders, and severe and persistent mental illness. Her passion for working with adolescents and advocating for the promotion of mental wellness in young people has brought her to Middleton. “Early intervention and prevention are key,” Breanna believes, and she is dedicated to providing support and creating safe spaces for students.

When Breanna isn’t at work, you can find her on the soccer field with her four kids, all signed up for soccer, and her husband coaching. She enjoys puzzling, indoor cycling, curling up with a good book, and watching football. Breanna considers it a privilege to serve the students and families of Middleton High School and looks forward to making a positive impact on their mental health.

Students can access services through referrals from school counselors. Parents and guardians can also call or email Breanna Gross directly to initiate services for their child. She can be reached at bgross@msd134.org or 208-585-6657.
